Today is March 14th, which means it’s National Pi Day! (March 14 = 3/14. Get it…?)
In honor of this ridiculous holiday I, along with my wife Amanda and my friend Fred Gleeck made a fun video about the real life of Pi. Enjoy watching and please share!

I am in a small theatre production next month, and the costume designer suggested face-framing bangs for my character. I like the shape in the costume sketch, but I have to pin my hair up between scenes, sometimes in less than two minutes. Several scenes involve quick turns and movement. A fringe that falls into my eyes would be distracting, particularly with bright lights facing the audience. The stage manager has asked us to keep sight lines clear. My hair is fine and mostly straight, so I cannot count on a styled bend staying in place for the whole performance. I found curtain bang lengths helpful for naming the options, but I need to decide where the shortest pieces should actually end. Would a longer fringe be easier to pin back quickly? I can rehearse with clips before cutting anything, although the final costume headpiece may change how the hair sits. I can practice the change during a full rehearsal. The fringe should still be manageable on ordinary days. A workable backstage routine matters more to me than a perfect publicity photo. Has anyone dealt with bangs during quick costume changes? What length gave you a useful frame without blocking your view?
Every March 14th I tell myself I’m going to appreciate the math, but really it just becomes an excuse to drop pastry puns and avoid actual spreadsheet work. Motivational humor is about the only way these novelty calendar holidays stay bearable when you’re managing a feed.
I actually had to scramble for a quick holiday post this morning, so I used veo 3.1 to generate a five-second b-roll loop of a fork cutting into a warm cherry pie to put behind a joke quote. It took about two minutes; the crust texture looked a bit plasticky on the first pass, but the second attempt was plenty good enough for an Instagram story.
Always appreciate the reminder that half the internet runs on Pi Day puns every March. As someone trying to schedule holiday-themed social clips ahead of time, it is weirdly one of the harder dates to visualize without just leaning into lazy stock footage of a bakery.
I actually spent yesterday building a quick promo sequence around the theme using Kling 4.0, prompting for a macro tracking shot of steam rising off a cooling pie crust. It took three tries to get the motion right without weird vapor artifacts, but feeding in a solid still reference frame kept the pastry texture from turning into digital mush.
